When there is trouble with a server at work that kept freezing up. Ping a Ding Ding can alert you when the server went down, so you could nip downstairs to reboot it.
Ping a Ding Ding's main use is to alert a user if a pingable host has gone down or come up.
These are the main features of this software
- Most Recently Pinged drop down list.
- It remembers your settings.
- Includes packets sent, received and lost figures as well as min, max and average trip times
- It reports the time of most recent success and fail to save viewing logs. (which is limited to 1000 lines, just in case you want to leave it running forever)
- Preferences tab includes app options just like start up behaviour and various pingy things.
- Minimises to tray, tray icon has yellow border while pinging, red on fail, green on success - Yes other Delphi developers will laugh at my unimaginative icons.
- You can select your own wavs for the three different Alerts if you'd prefer
- Makes a tyre blow out noise when the ping times out or when the reply is the wrong size or from the wrong place. Actually I've just thought, if it's from the wrong IP address I don't bother checking to see if it contains the right amount of bytes - oh well you can't have everything.
- Makes an air horn noise when DNS look up fails.
- Makes a ding when ping succeeds.
· There is a "Use Defaults" button so you can use defaults.
