JkDefrag 3.33
A free (released under the GNU General Public License) disk defragment and optimize utility for Windows
You can stop the program at any time, it will finish the current file in the background.
JkDefrag is a free (released under the GNU General Public License) disk defragment and optimize utility for Windows.
If your disks use NTFS then you're even safe when the computer crashes in the middle of defragging.
All defragmenters are based on this API, including commercial defragmenters. JkDefrag is therefore very solid and there is no risk of losing data.
Completely automatic and very simple and user-friendly, fast, low overhead, with two optimization strategies, and JkDefrag ia possible to handle USB disks/sticks and floppies.
JkDefrag is based on the standard defragmentation API by Microsoft, a system library that is included in Windows 2000, 2003, XP, and Vista.
Included are a Windows version, a commandline version (for scheduling by the task scheduler or for use from administrator scripts), a screensaver version, a DLL library (for use from programming languages), and versions for 64-bit Windows.
Nevertheless, it's still a good idea to backup before defragmenting, just like with other defragmenters, because the heavy use of the harddisk may trigger a hardware fault.
What's new in this release
- Bundled some language-specific SpaceHogs masks into "?:\\*\\Installshield Installation Information\\*".
- Fixed a bug where the special "DisableDefaults" spacehogs mask just disabled the masks, but not the "Files bigger than 50 megabytes"" and "Files not accessed in the last month" criteria.
- If the user specifies a short input mask without a wildcard, for instance "C:" or "C:\", then the input mask is rewritten as "C:\*".
- If the volumename of a disk cannot be determined then the program will now fallback to using the mountpoint of a volume to open a handle.
- Fixed a bug in the forced-fill optimization that caused the program to skip fragments that were left by filling a gap with a part of the fragment.
- Fixed a bug in the Windows version that for some users caused the display of the diskmap to get stuck.
· Moved the "Volume ID" message for FAT disks from debug level zero to 6....
